For the first time, the Eiffel Tower will bring in the New Year brightly :
on December 31, the Tower will light up in a palette of colors offering a truly festive and magical sight for the eyes !

For the first time, the city of Paris and the Eiffel Tower are hosting a light show for the occasion, to the delight of Parisians and visitors to the capital, with the Trocadéro as the vantage point for best viewing.

At 11pm the light show will glow; an original program will begin, only to come to an end as the New Year arrives.

The usual glittering lights will light up the Tower at 11pm, and will then be repeated at 11:30 pm, this time followed by a never-been-seen-before light display lasting 20 min. The LED technique used is state-of-the-art, and of course, will end with the symbolic countdown to 2010.

At midnight, the glittering lights, a familiar sight in the Parisian night sky, will begin the New Year.

And in a grand finale, the most recent light show*, which began on October 22, will present its colors for the last time, giving way to the permanent gold lighting of the monument.

All the elements are in place to assure that this will be a memorable New Year’s Eve.

This display relies on a light installation of more than 400 LED spotlights with electroluminescence effects in quadrichromatic color, placed on the facades of the Trocadero buildings. In addition to the innovative multiple lighting possibilities, this latest technology offers high performance at low energy consumption levels, lower than those of the traditional lighting fixtures used to light the Tower.

The light show is brought to you by Citelum, with Magnum, and is staged by Bernard Schmitt (scenography) and Jacques Rouveyrollis (light design).

* Light displays every evening at 8:05, 9:05, 10:05 and 11:00, to be admired from the Trocadero.
