As it does every year, the Longines Global Champions Tour – Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping equestrian competition takes place in front of the Ecole Militaire (military school), with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower. For the 130th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower, the Tower has a special connection with several events of one of the most prestigious show jumping competitions.

At the end of the Champ de Mars, the 6th edition of the Longines Global Champions Tour - Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping will take place from July 5th to 7th in 2019. Traditionally, the bleachers of the stadium were positioned facing the Eiffel Tower. This allows spectators to follow the equestrian events with a special and unique viewpoint of this monument that symbolizes Paris. A significant detail that was probably extremely important for Virginie Coupérie-Eiffel, the founder and president of the event, a descendant of Gustave Eiffel!

This year, for its 130th anniversary, the Eiffel Tower is partnering more closely with this prestigious Parisian sporting event.

A horseback ride that passes under the Tower

In addition to the traditional show jumping competition that is open the world’s best horse riders on July 6th and 7th, in the heart of the region of Ile-de-France, LGCT - LPEJ is also organizing “Route Eiffel”—several horseback rides open to skilled riders, enthusiasts, and beginners.

To offer Parisians an original experience, the morning ride in on Sunday, July 7th will take place in Paris, leaving from the Ecole Militaire. The 100 horse riders and their horses will have the distinguished honor of starting their ride by passing under the Eiffel Tower!

On a big screen on our summer terrace, our visitors will also be able to follow the events of the Longines Global Champions Tour - Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping on the 1st floor of the Tower, on Saturday and Sunday July 6th and 7th.

LGCT - LPEJ is also celebrating the 130th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower

Lastly, in honor of its 130th anniversary, a special prize for the 130 years of the Eiffel Tower is planned for Sunday, July 7th, between 12:00 and 1:30 PM. At the end of the day, the trophy will be awarded to the winner of the event by the actress Elodie Fontan, the patron of the 2019 edition, and by Patrick Branco Ruivo, the general manager of the Société d’Exploitation de la tour Eiffel (SETE).
