The Eiffel Tower's vertical is back in 2016

La Verticale de la Tour Eiffel®, an ascent race of the 1,665 steps of the Eiffel Tower is back for its second edition on March 17th, 2016!

La Verticale de la Tour Eiffel® - an ascent race of the 1,665 steps of the Eiffel Tower on an against the clock format (eg ski race) is a particular challenge. And unlike similar events that exist in the world and take place in closed stairwells, the stairs of the Eiffel Tower are completely open to the outside.

In 2015, for its first edition, the Verticale de la Tour Eiffel® hosted 61 participants from a total of 16 different countries (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Spain, USA, France, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, UK, Czech Republic, and Slovakia) and representing all disciplines of running (road, trail, track, stairs race...).

For its second edition, the Verticale de la Tour Eiffel® will be held again, on March 17, 2016 and will host 100 seasoned sportspersons:

- 40 international elite athletes selected by a committee of international experts of running

- 50 amateur athletes drawn by a draw.

- 10 athletes selected by the organization (as a wildcard). The possibility is given to all pre-registered to make up an application, to be sent to the organization to benefit from these wildcards.

All applicants must pre-register (€ 10) before November 30, 2015 and provide evidence of their ability to meet this challenge (performance certificates).

The defending champions 2015, Piotr LOBODZINSKI (Poland) and Suzy WALSHAM (Australia) have already made an rendezvous for 17 March 2016 to defend their titles.
